52 prisoners released

Bajaur Agency—The political administration has freed 52 prisoners for celebrating Eid with family members.
The prisoners detained for petty crimes were released on the order by Bajaur Agency Assistant Political Agent Khar sub-division Muhammad Ali Khan and Assistant Political Agent Nawagai sub-division Tariqullah during their visit to Khar jail.
Both the officials held a brief court inside the Jail. Senator Hidayatullah Khan and senior officials of the administration and Levies force were also present on the occasion.
The jail authorities briefed visitors about the number of people kept in the jail and the nature of their crimes. The visitors were told that round 155 prisoners mostly for minor crimes had been in the jail for several months. After brief hearing, the officials ordered the release of 52 prisoners involved in petty crimes.
Later, visitors examined barracks and different part of the jail and learned about the prisoner’s problems. The officials said the administration making all possible means to ensure basic facilities to the prisoners. They said that construction works on new building of Khar jail was in progress to improve facilities in prison. Talking to reporters, the officials said the administration had taken several initiatives to make prisoners useful citizen of the society after they were freed.
On the occasion, the prisoners thanked the officials for releasing them from the jail to celebrate Eid with their families.—APP
