50pc workforce of MDA has fake degrees

Karachi—The University of Karachi (UoK) has confirmed 48 degrees of officers and staffers of the Malir Development Authority (MDA) as fake.
It has reliably been learnt that the former MDA Director General Muhammad Suhail had signed letter of appointments of such officers and staffers with fake degrees for bribe and minted millions through this corruption.
According to details, of 48 officers with fake degrees, 38 are still on their seats and positions.
The MDA had referred some 150 degrees of officers and staffers to the UoK for verification and the UoK has confirmed that 48 degrees are fake.
In detail, there are 1750 officers and staffers in MDA and according to well-informed sources, a total of 50 percent officers and staffers do not have a valid degree from any reputed academic institution.
The sources also said that the son of former Managing Director of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, Atiq Shaikh, who has recently been retired from MDA services also, had a fake degree.
He was appointed in MDA as Assistant Director Town Planning, MDA in 2014 on a fake University degree.
The MDA has so far removed some 16 from MDA services on confirmation of possessing fake degrees.
However, 32 are still in MDA service and among such fake degree holders is Nasir Khan, who is on the post of Director PHS.
He joined MDA from KDA on deputation in 2001 where he was simply in grade 7. Also, Abdullah, Faisal and Noor Mumtaz from DPR are in the list.
It is pertinent to mention that the national accountability bureau has also commenced investigation son embezzlement and corruption in MDA and mega land scam with a link to Sindh Board of Revenue and Sindh government.
