5,000 cops to perform duty on Eid days

Multan—Multan police have finalized a security plan for Eidul Fitr as 5,000 policemen, 1,783 Pakistan Qaumi Razakars (PQRs) and 2,198 volunteers will perform secuirty duties across the region. In a statement issued here on Tuesday, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sultan Azam Taimuri said that foolproof security arrangements had been made for Multan, Vehari, Khanewal and Lodhran districts on the Eid days.
He said that policemen would be deployed at 2,044 mosques and 70 open places. He said that security personnel would be deputed at markets before Eid. He said that there were 2,114 mosques across the region, where Eid prayers would be held, and several of them had been declared sensitive. He said at sensitive points police commandos and Elite Police force would be deployed.
Taimuri said that CCTV cameras had been installed at sensitive places and metal detectors and walk-through gates would be used at big congregations. Traffic plan had also been made for public facilitation and parking would be free for people at public places, he added.—APP
