500 Punjab students to learn Chinese

IN a step towards truly reaping the benefits of multi billion dollars China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has announced to send five hundred students from province’s educational institutions to China for learning Chinese education.
This initiative truly reflects the futuristic vision of Shahbaz Sharif and indeed would go a long way in further multiplying benefits from the game changer project. As the two countries are strengthening their trade, political and people to people contacts to take their relationship to new heights, it has become imperative for Pakistani people to develop an ability to effectively communicate with their Chinese friends. Especially, tremendous business opportunities would arise during and after construction/installation of various facilities that constitute the CPEC and there would be high demand of Chinese speaking people to work along with Chinese technical experts and workers. Therefore, we believe that the Punjab government has taken a step in the right direction by deciding to send students to China to learn their language. On their return, these students would be better placed to get better job opportunities in the CPEC related projects. We would also propose other provinces to follow the suit of Shahbaz Sharif and send their students to China for learning of Chinese language. The Confucius Institute at the National University of Modern Languages, Islamabad is already playing an important role in promoting Chinese language and culture and now the same are being set up in Karachi and Lahore, which we believe could help in creating a large pool of Chinese speaking people in Pakistan. It is time for our young lot to look into the future opportunities and learn Chinese language, as we have to work together in all fields to ensure a prosperous and bright future.
