Brother, sister drown in nullah, two killed over kids clash
At least five members of a family including a woman died and 15 others were injured in collision between two vehicles here on Thursday. Rescue sources said that a van carrying a family back home after attending wedding ceremony collided with a reckless driven tractor trolley near Harsa Sheikh locality at Lahore Road in Chiniot. A woman among five family members died on the spot in the accident while 15 others sustained injuries. The bodies and injured were shifted to hospital for medico-legal formalities. The police impounded both vehicles and after registering a case against the driver of tractor trolley who fled from the scene of the accident.
In Hyderabad, two including brother and sister drowned in a nullah here on Thursday. Bodies fished out and handed over to heirs. Police said that a six-year-old girl and her 11-year brother fell into a nullah near Matiyari area of Hyderabad. The two children drowned before they could be rescued. The bodies were later fished out and handed over to heirs for burial.
In Sialkot, two persons including a police constable were killed and a cop among four people was injured when elders jumped into children clash here on Thursday. Police said that while playing cricket near their residence in Noorabad area of Sialkot, two groups of children quarrelled with each other.
Elders of both groups on receiving information about the clash reached the scene with arms and exchanged fire. Accused Saeed opened fire at his neighbor but he narrowly escaped. Police rushed to the scene and tried to reduce the tension but Constable Asif was killed and ASI Idrees, two children among four people was injured in firing of the accused. In retaliatory firing of police, the culprit Saeed was also killed. The bodies and injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Meanwhile, in Sargodha police recovered bullet-riddled body of a man. Afghan nationals among eight culprits were arrested with arms here on Thursday. Police said that the body was lying in Jhelum River in Sargodha.—INP
