36 power pilferers held

Islamabad—The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has apprehended 36 more electricity thieves in the company’s regions in various raids during its ongoing drive against power pilferers.
The spokesman told APP that 17 culprits were caught red handed from Islamabad, 10 from Rawalpindi, seven from Attock and two from Chakwal circles.
He said the drive was launched on the directives of CEO Dr Rana Abdul Jabbar Khan. All the culprits were found involved in power theft through direct line (Kunda System) and by broken security strip of the meter, he added.
He said FIRs had been lodged against power thieves under the new electricity (Amendment) Act.
He said the IESCO was committed to taking stern action against the power thieve across its all five regions. He also requested its valued customers to inform about power theft on IESCO’s new Roshni 8398 sms service.
The new “ROSHNI SMS Service 8398” is serving commendably in entire IESCO region including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Jehlam, Chakwal and Attock circles and it is getting massive response from its users.
Information regarding tariff, temporary connection, late receiving of electricity bills, over billing, low voltage complaints can be registered by sending SMS to Roshni 8398.—APP
