Thousands attend funeral prayers of martyred youth
In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops, in their fresh acts of state terrorism, martyred three youth and injured over thirty people in Litter area of Pulwama district, today.
The troops killed two youth, Waseem Shah and Naseer Ahmed, during a siege and search operation. The killings led to massive demonstrations in the area. Indian police and troops fired bullets, pellets and teargas shells to disperse the protesters, injuring dozens of them. One of the critically injured Gulzar Ahmed Mir was rushed to a hospital in Srinagar but succumbed to his injuries on the way.
Thousands of people participated in the funeral prayers of Wasim Shah and Nasir Ahmed at their ancestral villages in south Kashmir. Witnesses said that the funeral prayers of Wasim Shah were offered at least five times in Heff village to accommodate the big number of people. Similar scenes were witnessed at the funeral of Nasir Ahmad in Litter village of Pulwama. Four rounds of funeral prayers were held for him to accommodate the thousands of mourners. Pro-freedom and anti-India slogans were raised as the bodies of the martyred youth were being taken towards the graveyard.
Meanwhile, the puppet authorities suspended mobile internet services in Pulwama district to prevent people from sharing information about the situation in Litter area. Hurriyat leaders and organizations in their statements paid glowing tributes to martyred Waseem Shah and Naseer Ahmed. A delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front attended the funeral of the martyred youth. Hurriyat leaders including Bilal Sidiqui visited Hajin area of Bandipore and expressed solidarity with the families of a youth recently martyred by the troops.
On the other hand, people took to the streets in Boniyar area of Uri, today, after Indian police took custody of an alleged braid-chopper following a braid-cutting incident. Seven people sustained pellet injuries after the police fired pellets and teargas shells on the protesters. The puppet authorities continued to keep the educational institutions in Srinagar shut on the third consecutive day, today, to stop students from holding demonstrations against the braid-cutting incidents. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Khan, talking to media in Srinagar said that at least 350 cases of braid-chopping had been reported so far in the territory. In a latest tactic of state terrorism, Indian troops in disguise use chemicals to make women unconscious and cut their braids. Locals say that the disgraceful acts masterminded by Indian secret agencies are aimed at terrorizing the masses particularly the womenfolk and creating a sense of insecurity and fear-psychosis among them.
The puppet authorities again shifted the illegally detained Hurriyat leader, Sarjan Barkati, to Srinagar Central Jail after keeping him at Police Station Heerpora in Shopian for 25 days.—KMS
