Nawabshah—Measles has spread in Sakrand town and in a couple of days has claimed lives of three minors of same family. The District Health Department has taken notice of issue and started measles vaccination campaign.
Sources told that five children of a labourer Ali Nawaz Magsi of Mehar Colony Sakrand fell victim to measles out of which Sonia, Hassan Ali and Javed were shifted to hospital where they died.
However two others Sohni and Juman are still facing high fever. Their father Ali Nawaz Magsi told that he took children to taluka Hospital Sakrand for treatment where they died. Later Deputy Commissioner Ghanwar Khan Laghar accompanied by District Health Officer Dr Bahadur Khero and Assistant Commissioner Salamat Memon visited the house of labourer and extended financial assistance of Rs 25,000.
DC said that the vaccine of measles and other diseases is available in district hospitals. On information of death of three children of the same family, Project Director EPI programme Agha Ashfaq rushed to Sakrand along with his team and launched special campaign against measles.
