3 Chinese among 5 injured in Dalbandin attack
Three policemen were martyred and two injured in a pre-dawn attack on Saturday in Gilgit-Baltistan when militants attacked a police station in Kargah area.
A police official told media that seven militants attacked the police station. “As a result, we lost three policemen and two others were injured,” he said. The deceased were identified as Hawaldar Fazlur Rehman, Sepoy Nawab Khan and Sepoy Abdul Wakil. The policemen were martyred as they slept.
The injured were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital Gilgit. “One of the terrorists was also killed in the shootout while another was critically injured?” the official added. The terrorist killed in the attack was affiliated with a militant group gaining prominence in Afghanistan and was a senior commander for the group in the Afghan province of Nuristan.
Meanwhile, a bus carrying a team working on the Saindak Copper-Gold Mine project was attacked by a suicide bomber near Dalbandin bypass in Dalbandin, Balochistan, levies sources said on Saturday. The team, which included Chinese employees working on the project, was on its way to Dalbandin from Saindak district in Chaghi when it came under attack.
According to security sources, the bomber attacked using a Zamyad truck, an Iranian-manufactured vehicle commonly used to transport oil. The area where the attack took place is close to Pakistan’s eastern border with Iran. They were shifted to Arab Hospital, Dalbandin, and provided treatment. Local officials have said they are in stable condition.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has strongly condemned terrorist attack on the Chinese engineers and their accompanying FC personnel in Dalbandin.
