At least one Indian was an eye witness to the latest terror attack in New Zealand due to which the 3rd Test match against Bangladesh and the tour is called off.
A Chennai-based video analyst (Shrinivas Chandrasesekaran) is attached with the national cricket team of Bangladesh.
“I was just sitting inside the bus. The plan was to attend the practice sessions at the ground located just behind the mosque after the prayers. The practice sessions was scheduled at 3.00 pm, when this happened at 1.30 to 1.40 pm”, Shrinivas Chandrasesekaran, speaking exclusively over telephone from Christchurch, said.
“It was horrifying and sad because this is the first time I am experiencing something like this…”.
“We were extremely lucky because we were also getting into the mosque But as soon as we heard gunshots we stayed inside the vehicle.. had we reached a minute earlier we would have been inside the mosque”.
“We were asked to lie down in the bus for few minutes when we realized the situations. It was very pathetic as no body had ever imagined such a scenario”.
“The motive behind the attack is yet to be investigated. I am not sure if the players were targeted as was the case in Lahore (2009 when the Sri Lankan team was targeted) but I feel really bad as people were running around crying for help and blood everywhere..not a sight anyone would want to watch”, the video analyst added further.
“We quickly went to stadium and after sometime we left from there to hotel and since then we are here in the hotel”.
