DG SBP issues strict instructions to follow merit in teams selection

The trials of selection of teams in 30 disciplines got under way in all nine divisions for participation in upcoming 72nd Punjab Games. The trials process, under the directives of Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar, will remain continue till March 18. Nadeem Sarwar has issued strict instructions to follow merit during the selection process of different teams.
Committees have been formed to conduct merit-based trials. Divisional Sports Officers will be the conveners while District Sports Officer, Punjab coach of respective game and national or international player in each district will be the members of the said committees.
As per details, the wushu trials have been completed in Lahore. The archery, badminton, boxing, football, squash, bodybuilding, baseball, cycling, gymnastics, hockey, kabaddi, tennis and roller sports trials of men and basketball, handball, table tennis trials of women were conducted in Faisalabad Division. In Bahawalpur, male players took part in archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, volleyball, squash, bodybuilding, baseball, cycling, gymnastics, kabaddi, tennis, roller sports, swimming, wrestling, weightlifting trials while females featured in athletics, basketball, handball, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, wushu trials. Athletics and cycling trials of special children were also conducted here. Badminton, boxing, football, bodybuilding, hockey, wrestling and tennis trials of men while athletics, basketball, handball, table tennis of women were held in Sahiwal. Athletics and cycling trials of special children were also conducted here.
The men’s trials of archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, bodybuilding, baseball, cycling, gymnastics, kabaddi, football, karate, kick-boxing and kabaddi were held in Dera Ghazi Khan Division. As many as 12 women basketball players were selected after basketball trials in Multan division.—APP
