Govt to establish ‘Pakistan Welfare Villages’: Asad

Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser Friday said Model Welfare Villages in all the provinces of the country will be established to provide state of the art health, education and recreational facilities to the poor and needy people. The Speaker expressed these views while talking to Chairperson of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) Dr. Sania Nishter, who called him on Friday at Parliament House, said a press release issued here.
Asad Qaiser said that helping poor and needy people was our religious and national obligation and those who were participating in this selfless service to humanity were commendable. While appreciating BISP’s services, the Speaker said that BISP was playing an important role in improving the living standards of poor and needy people in the country.
He said that these villages have been named as “Pakistan Welfare Villages” and for establishment of these villages a consortium had been formed in which more than 50 Welfare institutions were involved and a special task force had also been formed for this purpose. Asad Qaiser also appreciated the initiative of the present government for establishing shelter homes for the deserving people in different areas of the country and ensured his all-out support for BISP.
While referring his recent visits to Rashidabad at Tando Allah Yar and KORT at Mirpur, Azad Kashmir, the Speaker also appreciated the services being given by the institutions established for the destitute and special children by these Welfare organizations. While recognizing the sentiments of the Speaker for the destitute and deprived sections of the society, Chairperson BISP Dr. Sania Nishter ensured her all-out support for the establishment of Model Welfare Villages.
She told the Speaker that on instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan she was also working for the special persons besides her work on BISP projects. She apprised the Speaker that BISP was carrying new surveys for deserving people that will be free from any political influence and proper scrutiny of the deserving people will be carried out before issuance of BISP cards. She said that helping poor and needy people was among the top priorities of the current government and in that regard government was taking necessary steps to further strengthen BISP.—APP
