Islamabad—Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry Thursday said 200 buses would be provided to educational institutions of the federal capital to facilitate students. Replying to a question in the Senate, the minister said summary had been moved to provide those buses to the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) for its educational institutions which would be made as model for rest of the institutions of the country in terms of facilities and quality of education. He said the transport facility would be put on modern lines and be watched through vibrant security system.
Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said there were a total of 422 educational institutions in the federal capital, of which had been upgraded under a relevant Prime Minister’s project while 200 more would be made as model during the current year at a cost of Rs 2 billion.
In next phase, the remaining institutions would be transformed into model institutions next year at the same amount. The Minister said every effort was being made to ensure safe, secure and conducive environment in all the educational institutions.
As part of such efforts, he added an amount of Rs. 182.337 million allocated and transferred to Pakistan Works Department (PWD) for repairing and uplifting of boundary wall of educational institutions. He said installation of razor wire was also included in the project and the work had been started in 24 educational institutions working under FDE.
He said under first phase of Prime Minister Education Reforms Programme work on upraising of boundary walls of 22 institutions was near completion and the work of remaining institutions would be carried out in second phase. He said provision of CCTV Surveillance System in all public institutions had been put in place under FDE, adding watchmen were appointed in the institutions and they perform their duties vigilantly to ensure security of the institutions.
In addition to the above, Special Branch of the office of Assistant Inspector General of Police has been assigned to conduct security audit of private educational institutions of Islamabad. Moreover, office of the Chief Commissioner (ICT) has constituted an Implementation Watch Committee to review security arrangements of these private educational institutions.
