Twenty youth were arrested during nocturnal raids by police in Ratnipora village of Pulwama district in south Kashmir triggering a complete shutdown in the area on Friday.
Local sources told Kashmir Reader that police raided many residential houses in Ratnipora during last night and arrested the youth.
As per reports the arrested youths were allegedly involved in stone pelting on the cavalcade of a minister some days back.
Soon as the news about the arrests spread in the area shopkeepers pulled down their shutters. Another report says a civilian was killed while another sustained injuries in south Kashmir’s Pulwama town on Friday after suspected militants hurled a grenade on a CRPF vehicle which missed the target and exploded near it.
SSP Pulwama Mohammad Rayees confirmed the death of a civilian to Kashmir Reader and said that incident took place in Murran Chowk of the town.
The deceased civilian has been identified as Mohammad Ayoub of Gusoo, Pulwama. One more civilian was injured in the blast while as a CRPF personnel also sustained injuries who was identified as Ct. Dalbir Kiran of 182 battalion.
Sources said that suspected militants hurled a grenade towards a CRPF vehicle injuring two civilians and a CRPF personnel.—KR
