1st National Capoeira Festival, Sports Gala 2016 on April 30

Islamabad—The launch of 1st National Capoeira Festival and Sports Gala 2016 will be held here on April 30, featuring Capoeira, other famous martial arts such as Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and Wushu Kung Fu, etc.
The event will be the first event that is going to be hosted by Pakistan Capoeira Academy and organized by Micronox with the support of Brazilian Embassy in Islamabad, says a press release issued here Tuesday from Brazilian embassy.
The event will be held at Liaquat Gymnasium Hall at Sports Complex, in which high profile guests including cricket celebrities, martial arts personalities, famous sportsmen, Brazilian Masters, diplomats and foreign missions will be invited.
Capoeira is Brazilian traditional martial art that combines the elements of dance, music, acrobatics, fighting and self-defense. Capoeira is very famous for fast and complex moves including a wide variety of kicks, spins, dodges, fast counter-attacks and highly mobile techniques.
In Pakistan, the history of Capoeira goes back in 2012, whereas in 2015, Pakistan Capoeira Academy became first official academy of Capoeira in the country. For the promotion and development of Capoeira, Shayan Ali has also founded Pakistan Capoeira Federation and now Capoeira sport is practiced in all major cities.
The event includes a presentation regarding the history, culture and techniques of Capoeira by Shayan Ali and performance of Capoeira moves / techniques by Fawaz Mir and Shayan Ali. Masters of Capoeira from Brazil will also demonstrate Capoeira with their team while Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Wushu Kung Fu fighting will also be the part of this event.

The head of women in Capoeira, Sadiya Khan said, “We are working hard to invite more women and girls into this sport. —APP
