19 arrested for violating renting law

Rawalpindi—Police on Wednesday arrested nineteen house owners and tenants for not providing the data to the relevant police stations and violating renting laws.
Naseerabad police conducted a raid and arrested the house owner namely Abdul Basit, tenanat Ahmed Khan and Shahnaz Akhtar while Civil Line police held owner of the shop Shah Jahan, Farooq, Saeed Sultan, Amjad Qayyum, Fayyaz, and Muhammad Riaz and Morgah police nabbed owner of the house Malik Muhammad Shafiq, tenant Waseem Babar, Tariq Mehmood, Bilal Ahmed and Dilshad who had no proper documentation.
According to police spokesman, cases were registered under the Punjab Information of Temporary Residence Ordinance 2015.
Under the Ordinance, details of new tenants should be provided to the police within 24 hours of giving possession of the property, he added.—APP
