Collision between a motorcycle rickshaw and a long wheeler on National high way near Sarhad town of district Ghotki on Tuesday resulted in death of six members of a family including two children while 8 others sustained injuries.
The ill fated family was travelling back on motorcycle rickshaw to their native village in Sadiqabad district of Punjab after attending the Urs celebrations of Hazrat Laal Shahbaz Qalandar at Sehwan. The deceased were identified as Ghulam Ali, Dilawar, Khushboo, Kajal and two minor girls Rimsha and Mehak, all belonging to the same family. Eight other people sustained injuries among them condition of three was reported serious.
Non availability of ambulances at Sarhad town created hurdles in immediate shifting of the injured in critical condition to taluka hospital Ghotki. Later, Deputy Commissioner Ghotki, Ajaz Ali Shah visited Ghotki hospital to review medical facilities. He directed hospital administration to provide all available facilities to the injured devotees.
Meanwhile, the Medical Superintendent Taluka Hospital Sehwan Dr. Moinuddin has informed that seven casualties have been reported this year so far which included the deaths of three persons as a result of heart attack, 2 deaths of children due to drowning and loss of two persons as a result of road accidents.
‘Life saving drugs and all necessary medical facilities are available in Taluka Hospital Sehwan besides 47 medical camps were also established on Indus Highway and other places to meet any emergency siyuation’ , he informed.
Five members of a family were killed in a collision between a truck and a passenger van at Pindi Road in Chakwal, and six were injured on Tuesday.
Among the dead, there were two women. The injured have been shifted to DHQ hospital where doctors are giving them treatment, private news channel reported. Bad road infrastructure, poor driving, non-implementation of traffic laws and regulations often cause deadly accidents like this in Pakistan. This tragedy also occurred due to carelessness and over speeding.
Earlier, an utterly horrible road accident took place in Makhdoom Rasheed area of Multan where a fast-moving oil tanker vehicle crushed a school van, killing three kids and van’s driver while nine received injuries.
The school van was headed from Mumtazabad to Makhdoom Rasheed when the speedy oil tanker went out of control near Pul Chatha. Nine kids had been reported injured. Rescue teams arrived at the location as soon as they were informed about the accident and rushed the injured children to the hospital.
Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has expressed his deep sense of sorrow and grief over the loss of precious human lives in a traffic incident near Chakwal. The Chief Minister expressed his sympathies and condolence with the heirs. He directed the administration to provide best healthcare facilities to the injured persons.—APP
