The best — or worst — way to ruin a nation’s present and future — is to alienate its youth — women and men — from their socio-cultural roots and religious moral-spiritual moorings. The Pakistani media, both traditional and social, are playing a starkly alienating role — with notable exceptions. This alienation can be seen daily in the wayward dress and behaviour of our men and women, young and old, in the popular market haunts of Pakistan’s towns and cities. Such folk need focused attention for remedial action by Pakistani socio-cultural main-streaming.
But my hope lies in the not yet (completely) lost rural population of Pakistan — which is, also, sadly, being infected by the alienation itch! So — don’t pump and pamper the youth — guide and reform them by personal example.
