At least 12 people were killed and 35 others injured when a coach, van and car collided on the Mehran Highway near Qalandarabad here on Friday.
According to police sources, a passenger coach travelling to Quetta from Karachi ran into a van while another car crashed into the vehicles leading to the death of at least eight people on the spot.
Shortly after the accident, rescue teams and police officials arrived at the scene and moved the injured and dead bodies to Peoples Medical Hospital. Emergency has been imposed at Peoples Medical Hospital, after moving a number of injured and dead bodies there.
In June, at least four people were killed and as many injured in separate road accidents in different parts of Balochistan. According to details, three people were killed and one other injured when a motorbike hit a Quetta-bound car on main highway near Muslim Bagh.
In another incident, a car collided with a dumper truck on River Road in Hub. As a result, three people sustained serious injuries. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The third incident took place in Barkhan Town where Wazir Khan lost his life after being run over by a tractor trolley. Later, the body was handed over to the heirs after completion of medico-legal formalities.
Local police registered the cases while investigations are under way. Two men were killed while another was injured in accidents in Jhal Chakian and Shahpur police limits on Friday. Police said Muhammad Nasir of Jhal Chakian along with his father Haq Nawaz was travelling on a motorcycle when a recklessly driven passenger bus hit it near Dherema.As a result, Nasir died on-the-spot while his father was injured.
Meanwhile, a collision between two motorcyclists claimed the life of Gohar Ayub. A woman was murdered while two others suffered injuries in firing incident in Atta Shaheed police limits. Police sources said on Friday that Rukhsana Bibi was travelling in a motorcycle rickshaw when some unknown armed person riding a motorbike (MBL-8490) pulled her out from the rickshaw and took her to some area near chak 46/SB.—APP
