Mr. Zahid Malik retired as a Joint Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of Pakistan. Having done Masters in Mass Communications in 1960 and with the rich experience he gained in the civil service, he launched his own Publication House in 1978. Now he is the Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of the prestigious English newspaper, Pakistan Observer. It is the only English newspaper of Pakistan which appears from five different stations and it has the largest visitation of its e-paper. It is a must Paper for policy-makers in Islamabad-Rawalpindi because of its credibility.

The Paper has great influence among the diplomats in the capital of Pakistan. Mr. Zahid Malik has best of relations with many Ambassadors in Islamabad as well with some of the foreign Governments. That is why he is invited by various Governments to participate in their high-profile functions.

Mr. Zahid Malik is author of a dozen books with over 2000 articles and comments are to his credit. He has delivered over 100 lectures abroad on varied subjects to various groups and associations in and outside Pakistan. One of his books is on Public Relations, which got the Writers Guild First Prize in 1970 and it is being taught in all the Mass Communications Departments of the Universities of Pakistan. It is a must text book. Another monumental and unique work of Mr. Zahid Malik is Mazameen-i-Quran-i-Hakim, which is an 800-page subject-wise classification and categorization of the Ayaat of the Holy Quran. After publishing its English version i.e. Subjects of Quran Mr. Zahid Malik is now engaged in giving final touches to its French, German and Chinese versions. His four books on legendary Nuclear Scientist of Pakistan Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan and Pakistan’s Nuclear Programme are the only authentic books on the life and achievement of the Scientist and Pakistan’s Nuclear Programme.

He is believed to be an authority on the matters relating to media. He has participated in national as well as international seminars on mass media and journalism. He has widely travelled and has visited almost all the countries of the world.

Mr. Zahid Malik can be rated as an Ambassador of the private sector of Pakistan because he always promotes the causes of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry and other finance and trade organizations like Business Council of Pakistan and he uses his influence in the Government to create an enabling atmosphere for the entrepreneurs of Pakistan. His Paper always prioritizes economy and development over politics etc.

Mr. Zahid Malik is the Chairman of Nazriya Pakistan Council Trust (NPC) and he has established an Aiwan-i-Quaid at the Fatima Jinnah Park with a cost of 200 million Rupees which he plans to make a hub of activities relating to the concept of the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

In view of appreciation of the positive journalism that Mr. Zahid Malik practices and for his untiring contribution towards promotion of ideology of Pakistan as well as his monumental work for the propagation of the teachings of Holy Quran, the President of Pakistan Mr. Asif Ali Zardari conferred on him coveted award of Sitara-i-Imtiaz on 14 August 2011.

On December 11, 2013 he was conferred an Honorary Degree of PhD in Philosophy, at the 6th Convocation of the Dadabhoy Institute of Higher Education in Karachi.
