Srinagar—Paying rich tributes to the two militants who were slain in an encounter in Hajan area of Bandipora district and Rayees Ahmad Dar of Kakpora, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani has said, “Our youth lay their lives to end the age old slavery of their nation, putting a huge responsibility on our shoulders to honor these sacrifices and take the movement to its logical end.” Criticizing the “criminal silence” of world community, Geelani said their insensitivity and unconcern is the sole reason for this “unabated bloodshed”.
Geelani in his statement issued on Wednesday said that the world forums, who stand witness to “our dispute”, act as mute spectators, “thereby legitimizing and legalizing the brutalities unleashed in this region for the last 70 years”.
“Had the super powers acted on their tall claims, India could not have dared to continue its repression and peace would have been ensured since long,” Geelani said.
Geelani said that youth are on the forefront of the movement when it comes to laying down their precious lives. They have sacrificed their livelihood, and are facing the hardships in jails, he said, adding, “They bravely and willingly offer their today for our tomorrow.”
He said, “Our nation has used every democratic and peaceful means for about 40 years to fight this aggression—but India has responded ruthlessly without caring to listen to the aspirations and just voices of Kashmiris, thus negating the historical legitimacy of this dispute.”
“This arrogance, haughtiness and persistent denial can’t hold water for long and India has to come to terms with the writing on the wall, lest this unresolved and unaddressed volcano can erupt and burst anytime—engulfing millions of people in this region,” Geelani said, adding it is the 4th generation which is daring “Indian autocratic and illegal rule”.—SABAH
