Young United, Mardan Club enter into semi-finals

Peshawar—Young United and Mardan Club moved into the semi-finals of the ongoing 8th Right to Play District Mardan Inter-Club Football Tournament being played at Younis Stadium Mardan.
In the third quarter-final Young United recorded victory against strong National Club in a penalty shoot-out. Young United, Bakhshali Mardan and National Club Mardan provided great thrilling for the large number of spectators present on this occasion and witnessed the semi-finals matches.
Young United took the lead in the 17th minute when Ajmal netted a fine goal through field attempt. Actually the right winger Siraj along with inner striker Wajid exchanges the ball at the center and when they reached in front of the box area Wajid gave a free ball to Ajmal who slammed in a beautiful goal to make the tally 1-0.
After taking lead Young United kept up more pressure to double the lead but their forwards were failed due to poor finishing. Only in the last 20-minute of the first session the front-line of Young United missed three easy goal scoring chances.
After conceding a goal, National Club also managed their position but till the end, failed to level the tally. Young United was leading by 1-0 at half-time.
It was the second session in which National Club made some good rallies of attacks, specially from the right side where Jibran delighted the sitting spectators with his run down the flank.
Jibran succeeded in leveling the tally 1-1 when he scored a beautiful goal in the 57th minute. After 1-1 both the teams raided on each other territory but failed to score and thus to get result of the match both were awarded five each penalty kicks on which Young United scored four goals and missed a target while National club scored three goals and missed two targets. Thus Young United won the match by 5-4.
In the second match Mardan club defeated New English Club of Takhtbhai by 5-0 in a one-sided affair. Saif Ullah scored a hat-trick in the first session while Abid Khan and Junaid scored one goal each in the second session.
Saif Ullah scored in the 18th, 24th and 29th minute while Abid Khan and Junaid scored in the 62nd and 70th minute. Khair Ul Amin supervised the match while Arsalan and Usman acted as deputy referees.—APP
