WM takes notice of robbery, sexual assault of expatriate family


Islamabad—Taking the cognizance of news published in local press regarding robbery and sexually assault of a visiting expatriate family by the Islamabad Police officials during November 2016, Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmed Khokhar, Senior Advisor Law and Grievance Commissioner for Oversees Pakistanis, the Wafaqi Mohtasib Sunday called report from Inspector General of Police, Islamabad.
The matter has been fixed for hearing in Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat. The police authorities informed the Obmudsman official that an FIR No. 178 has been registered against the responsible police officials at Police Station and both the accused constables had been arrested.
Report further revealed that recording of CCTV had been taken from the Command and Control System, Safe City and robbed money had been recovered which would be handed over after legal formalities.
The statements of complainant, accused constables, official of Safe City as well as two eye witnesses have been recorded. The accused have been sent to judicial custody by the court.
Challan is under preparation and will be submitted in court for further proceedings. The departmental proceedings against the accused constables have also been initiated. Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmed Khokhar directed the Islamabad police to inform the Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat regarding progress of both the proceeding including judicial and departmental on regular basis.—APP
