Troops raid, ransack religious scholar’s residence

In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops raided and ransacked the residence of a religious scholar in Sallar area of Islamabad district, today.
The troops ransacked even the personal library of the scholar without any reason. Preacher at Jamia Masjid in Srigufwara area of Islamabad district and a noted columnist, Maulana Altaf Hussain Nadvi, told media that soldiers raided his residence at Sallar in Bijbehara early today and started ransacking without asking anything.
“The soldiers damaged my households and even religious books of my library,” Nadvi said. He added that the army personnel damaged everything in the house and even used abusive language.
Station House Officer (SHO) Police Station Srigufwara, Peerzada Atiq, confirmed that the troops had raided and ransacked the house of Nadvi.
However the SHO said that army personnel had conducted raids in many residences in the area.—KMS
