Thousands of people visit Jallo Botanical Gardens daily

Botanical Gardens Jallo has become very attractive tourist spot in the Punjab capital. “About 10,000 to 15,000 people visit this park daily on working days, while the number rises to 20,000 on week-ends and public holidays,” said Muhammad Muneeb, deputy director Punjab Horticulture Authority (PHA) while talking to media persons here on Monday. He said that the Botanical Garden is the first mega park project constructed in Lahore after year 1985. A Butterfly House, Teto Walkway and recreational facilities for children are also there to attract tourists of all age groups.
He said that there are 1,500 kinds of plants in the garden. Species of shrubs, climbers, flowers and fruit trees are planted to attract tourists and researchers, he added.
Thematically designed garden has separate portions for each kind of plants. At least 468 different types of local and imported roses are planted in its flower section besides other types of flowers.
