Pakistan is a developing country with more and more private schools rapidly emerging everywhere. It has been reported that the teachers are not respected in these schools. The behaviour of the students towards their teachers is questionable. According to the Global Teacher Status Index, Pakistan, being a Muslim country, did not even make it to the list of 21 countries while China topped the list along with the US and the UK. Nowadays, teachers are judged by their dress, cell phone and so on and so forth rather than their educational background. A teacher in the past used to enjoy the status of a father. Students had an enormous amount of respect in their hearts for teachers. In today’s Pakistan, teachers are no more an important lot. This is not a good phenomenon. We all owe a lot to a teacher, therefore, we, especially students, are under obligation to respect our teachers.
