Steps being taken to protect child rights: Minister

Islamabad—Minister for Human Rights Senator, Kamran Micheal Wednesday said the government was according top priority to children’s rights and taking all possible measures for their protection and development. “Children are our asset and it is our responsibility to take steps for their bright future,” the minister said while addressing at a function, held here at PNCA in connection with the Universal Children’s Day.
“The celebration of the Day reminds us of our obligations and commitments for the rights of our children. We’ve to pledge that we’ll remove all hurdles which are detrimental in their development,” he said.
He said steps were being taken to ensure better education, healthcare and livelihood of children.
Kamran Micheal said the government was cognizant of its responsibilities and had introduced laws for the welfare and protection of children.
“We are trying to ensure a conducive environment to help our children become useful citizens,” he added.
The minister said the protection of child rights and provision of opportunities to them was a collective responsibility adding that all the citizens should play their role towards promotion and welfare of children.
