Sri Lanka to host SA Aquatic C’ship

Colombo—Over 400 top swimmers of all age categories and aquatic sports will vie for honours at the inaugural South Asian Aquatic Championship to be held in Colombo on October 18 to 23’The Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union will host the championship under the Asian Age group Aquatic Championship model. Seven South Asian countries will send their swimmers for this major event.
The participating countries are Maldives, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan,, Bangladesh, Nepal and India .
The 2016 edition of the South Asian Aquatic Championship will feature swimming, diving, water polo and Open water swimming which are part of the Olympic programmes as well.
The championship will commence with the opening ceremony scheduled on October 18 at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, Swimming Complex with Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera as the chief guest.
