SNGPL, Railways, Police, PAF win opening matches


Chief of Air Staff Kabaddi Championship

Islamabad—Four matches were decided on day first of the Chief of Air Staff Kabaddi Championship here at Jinnah Stadium, Pakistan Sports Complex on Monday.
In the first match, Sui Northern Gas Pakistan Limited (SNGPL) got a smooth sailing over Balochistan by 32-10 points. In the second fixture Pakistan Railways got an emphatic win over Sindh, defeating the latter by 44-16 points.
In the third match, Pakistan Police defeated KPK by 41-20 points, while in the final encounter of the day Pakistan Air Force trounced Punjab by 65-25 points.
The event was inaugurated by Air Vice Marshal Ahmar Shahzad. Director General, Pakistan Sports Board Dr. Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera and other PSB officials were also present on the occasion. As many as 12 teams, divided into four pools are featuring in the tournament. Pool: A: Pakistan Air Force, Punjab, Islamabad Pool B : WAPDA, Pakistan Railway, Sindh Pool C: Pakistan Army, Pakistan Police, KPK Pool D: HEC, SNGPL and Balochistan. Two teams from each pool will qualify for the quarterfinals.
The quarterfinals will be played on December 1, semifinals on December 2, while final will take place on December 3. Fixtures for Tuesday: HEC vs Balochistan, Pakistan WAPDA vs Sindh, Pakistan Army vs with KPK and Islamabad vs Punjab.—APP
