Karachi—A Sindh High Court bench has ordered closure of all wine shops across province. During hearing of illegal win shops case, director general excise submitted a report and told the court that only 120 wine shops are licensed in Sindh. He submitted that 20,000 members of minorities are living in Karachi South district while 24 shops are running in the area. The court remarked that under Hudood Ordinance, alcohol can be sold to minorities on their festivals only. The bench ordered the provincial government to submit compliance report on the next hearing. The court also called a report from the DG excise on the licenses issued to liquor shops.
