Shahbaz vows to provide clean drinking water

Lahore—Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting to review progress on “Khadim-e-Punjab Saaf Pani Programme”, here today. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that clean drinking water is essential for human health. He said that potable water is the right of every citizen and Punjab government will uphold this right through “Khadim-e-Punjab Saaf Pani Programme”.
He said that billions of rupees have been allocated for this purpose. He said that like other projects, transparency, high quality and speed will be the hallmark of “Khadim-e-Punjab Saaf Pani Programme” and he will personally monitor its implementation.
Shahbaz Sharif said that Punjab government has set up separate companies for the speedy implementation of the programme in southern and northern Punjab.
He said that this decision will be helpful in speedy execution of the programme as it will promote a spirit of competition.
Additional Chief Secretary, CEO Urban Unit, Secretary Housing and concerned officials attended the meeting whereas Chairman Punjab Saaf Pani Company South Punjab Kashif Padhiyar MPA participated through video link.
