Shabbir wants return of awards by their winners

Srinagar—In occupied Kashmir, the illegally detained General Secretary of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC), Shabbir Ahmad Shah, has appealed the award winning Kashmiris to return their honours in protest over the Indian brutalities on the people of the territory.
Shabbir Ahmad Shah in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “Wherever such state-sponsored oppression takes place in the world, the intellectual class doesn’t act as a mute spectator but registers their protest by returning the awards, the respective states have conferred upon them. By doing so, a strong message will be given to India.”
He said that the award winning persons must realize that the right to self-determination for which Kashmiris were struggling guarantees a bright future for even their children. Every section of the society has contributed to the freedom movement; the conscious class is duty-bound to fulfill its responsibility, he added.
The APHC leader said that in this regard the award-winning personalities in India could lead the way by putting pressure on their government to end bloodshed in the region, stop arms race, and strive for poverty eradication. “Only in a peaceful atmosphere can we find solutions to issues like poverty and unemployment,” he said.—KMS
