Senate body for holding football league

Senate Functional Committee on Problem of Less Developed Areas Tuesday directed officials of Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) to take steps for holding football league on the pattern of Pakistan Supper League (PSL), started by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The committee headed by Senator Usman Khan Kakar, met here in the Parliament House observed that conduct of football league would help promote the world’s most popular game in the country.
The panel was of the view that the league was a best way to develop young generation’s interest towards football.
The committee was told that a letter in this regard had already been written to administrator football federation, however so far no response was received.
The committee directed the PCB’s officials to attend the next meeting to brief about the details of proposed cricket and football academies in Balochistan province.
It also directed that the importance of sports should also be included in educational syllabus.
The chairman of the committee said sports festival should be held in Islamabad while the provinces should also be asked to take similar steps for the promotion of sports.
The committee also recommended to increase Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) budget.
The meeting was also attended by Senators Sardar Muhammad Azam Khan Musakhel, Gianchand, Maulana Tanveer Ul haq Thanvi Mir Kabir Ahmed Muhammad Shahi and officials of IPC ministry.—APP
