Panama Papers Inquiry

Islamabad—The Senate Standing Committee on Law and Justice has deferred the opposition’s Panama Papers Inquiries Bill 2016’ due to absence of Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan and other opposition members.
Committee Chairing Senator Muhammad Javed Abbasi directed that none of the movers among the 41 parliamentarians was present in the meeting so the body deferred the bill.
After the meeting of the committee Federal Minister of Law and Justice Zahid Hamid talking to media criticized opposition’s Panama Papers Inquiries Bill 2016’ and said that we came with preparation but the mover of bill was not present. “We have moved comprehensive Panama Papers Inquiries Bill 2016’ in National Assembly, he said.
He said that opposition’s bill presented in Senate is discriminatory which says that PM Nawaz Sharif’s name should be included in the Panama Leaks inquiry. The opposition’s demand of starting inquiry from PM cannot be accepted, he stated.
He said that the probe of Imran Khan, Jehangeer Tareen and other’s off shore companies should be held under comprehensive law. Federal minister avoided to answer the question about PTI’s protest in Islamabad on October 30.—SABAH
