Rs1687m funds for IBNH’s approved

Islamabad—National Assembly Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting (IBNH) Friday approved Rs 1686.928 million budgetary proposals to execute 32 ongoing and 12 new projects of IBNH’s attached departments for incorporating in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2016-17.
The committee meeting, chaired by Pir Muhammad Aslam Bodla, agreed with all the proposals, presented before it one-by-one and okayed them to include in the PSDP 2016-17.
Joint Secretary (A&C) of the Ministry, Zahoor Ahmed Barlas presented the proposals and briefed the lawmakers on 12 new projects worth Rs 1084.562 million relating to Pakistan Television (PTV), Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA), Press Information Department (PID), Lok Virsa and Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).
The NA body approved Rs 500 million for replacement of obsolete equipment of PTV Headquarters and its centres all over the country and DSNGs (digital satellite news gathering vehicles.)
It okayed five projects of PNCA worth Rs. 207.040 million for establishment of a National Center for Performing Art, National Theater Shakaparian, National Film Academy, War Gallery and upgradation of equipment besides digitalized archive library.
The committee passed upgradation and renovation of PID Karachi building and construction of PID office in Islamabad at a cost of Rs. 205.062 million.
It approved two projects of Lok Virsa amounting to Rs. 86.460 million for uplift of Lok Virsa premise and upgradation/ renovation of Lok Virsa Open Air Auditorium.—APP
