Pakistan is a developing country that requires general sense of public safety and security to climb up the ladder of success. Not so long ago, CM Punjab introduced Dolphin Force in Punjab that played a vanguard role in controlling the street crimes. In order to keep the safety ball rolling Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shehbaz Sharif has inaugurated the Lahore Safe City Project. Punjab Safe Cities Project is first-of-its-kind initiative in the whole country and biggest project in Asia. It is a system of achieving public safety by combining the “street patrolman’s intuitive approach” with state-of-the-art technology for communication and dissemination of information.
It is a great achievement that the first phase of Safe City Project worth Rs.12 Crores has been completed in a record period of time. Punjab is the first province to introduce Safe City Project and soon the project will also cover six other cities of Punjab including Multan, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Sargodha by the end of 2017. The Punjab Safe Cities Project follows One Stop Shop Approach by operating different departments and authorities as a unified and cohesive unit to deal with the emergency situations. The recruitment for Safe City Project has been made purely on merit and best training has been imparted to facilitate the citizens with best services. The youth recruited for the project are witness to the fact that they have been selected on merit and it is hoped that they will spare no effort for the success of this project.
Punjab Safe Cities Project is a hallmark project of Punjab Government in the history of Pakistan. It is of vital importance for curbing extremism, terrorism, crime and the activities of anti-social elements. If all goes well, Punjab would soon emerge as a safe, prosperous and peaceful province. It is need of the hour to make every effort for the success of Punjab Safe City Project as secured today will lead to prosperous tomorrow.
