Punjab drinking water supply policy 2017 on cards

The second Technical Working Group (TWG) meeting was held here on Thursday to finalize the Punjab Drinking Water Supply Policy 2017.
The meeting revolved around finalizing recommendations and seeking endorsements for the Drinking Water Supply Policy for Punjab. The implementation of this policy is based on a unique framework that promotes public-private partnerships and counts on a central role of local authorities.
The second meeting of the TWG culminated with an agreement to the recommendations and endorsement of the same.
The participants appreciated Project Management Unit – Punjab Public Health Agency’s role in facilitating the meeting and creating an enabling environment whereby they could address their concerns in the presence of relevant sectoral partners.
It was organised by Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Department HUD & PHED, with the technical support of UNICEF and coordinated by Project Management Unit-Punjab Public Health Agency (PMA-PPHA), Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department.
Water and sanitation issues are a pressing crisis for the people of the Punjab. Project Management Unit-Punjab Public Health Agency is adopting an integrated public health approach in Punjab.
Towards this end, PMU-PPHA coordinated the second TWG meeting, which was attended by technical experts from international agencies, government, and community organizations.
