PM boldly pleades Kashmir case at UNGA

Hina Rabbani, Shah Mehmood, Fazal, Maryam Nawaz, AJK leadership, legislators appreciate PM’s speech

Islamabad—Former foreign ministers Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Hina Rabbani Khar said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif suitably raised the Kashmir issue in a well balanced and comprehensive speech at the United Nations General Assembly.
While talking to a television channel, PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi termed the Prime Minister’s address balanced and said it covered all national and international issues, including Kashmir dispute.
He said the Prime Minister had presented Pakistan’s stance on all issues of national importance. Shah Mehmood Qureshi said after a long time Kashmir issue was highlighted in UNGA. He lauded Nawaz Sharif for courageously highlighting the Kashmir cause.
He said, terrorism was a big issue in Pakistan which wanted a peaceful Afghanistan. Hina Rabbani Khar said Nawaz Sharif had addressed UNGA as per expectations of the nation.
She said the Prime Minister had asserted that Pakistan was a peace loving country which did not want confrontation with any country. Hina termed the Prime Minister’s speech a need of the hour and highlighted the Kashmir issue in accordance with UNGA resolutions.
Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Chaudhry Muhammad Barjees Tahir hailed the Prime Minister for effectively presenting Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir issue.
Chairman National Assembly Standing Committee on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Malik Ibrar Ahmed said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif presented Pakistan’s unflinching stance on the Kashmir issue before the world leaders. Member National Assembly PML(N) Maiza Hameed said it was for the first time in the history of the country that an elected Prime Minister pleaded Kashmiri’s case for their right to self determination in such a strong way. She said the way Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif presented the issue of Kashmir in front of international community was indeed unprecedented.
Talking to reporters, Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman lauded Prime Minister for raising voice against Indian atrocities in Kashmir. He said that due to effective role of the parliament and foreign policy of the government the Kashmir issue has become an international issue.
He expressed his resolve to vociferously presenting the issue of Kashmir at all important forums till its resolution in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiris.
The National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence Production Thursday praised Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for candidly presenting Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir issue at the UN General Assembly.
Khawaja Sohail Mansoor presiding over the meeting observed that the way Prime Minister and his team lobbied and highlighted the plight of innocent people of Indian Held Kashmir (IHK) at the UN Session was highly appreciable.
The body said the PM presented the ground realities of IHK before the world leaders and apprised them about massive human rights violations by the Indian forces there.
The committee was of the view that people from all walks of life were appreciative of the bold stance taken at the august forum for people of Kashmir’s legitimate right to self-determination.
The Prime Minister urged the United Nations to play due role in resolving the longstanding issue of Kashmir as per wishes of its people and in line with the resolutions passed by the United Nations Security Council.
Welcoming the detailed address to the UN General Assembly, Vice Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir National Front Altaf Hussain Wani said that the PM represented the true aspirations of people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The politician Raja Muzaffar Hussain said that we welcome his statement, each and every word of speech was carefully chosen and well crafted, to give a clear unambiguous message to the world.
Talking to APP on telephone from Los Angeles California, Raja Muzaffar Hussain, the former senior vice chairman of Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) and sitting Director South Asia Democracy Watch, a United States based think tank said that the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif kept the doors open for dialogues with India to resolve the Kashmir issue.
PML-N MNA Haji Abdul Ghaffar Dogar told APP that world must not remain silent on brutalities of the Indian army on Kashmiris for the last many years.
PML-N MPA Rana Mahmoodul Hassan said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif proved once again that Pakistan was fearless against India and was determined to protecting rights of Kashmiris in held Kashmir.
Former provincial minister MPA Haji Ehsanuddin Qureshi said that Indian Occupied Kashmir remained on the agenda of the United Nations for years but awaited resolution till today. It is high time that the United Nations should move forward with some practical steps to resolve the decades long issue.
Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz Sharif was full of praise for her father after his speech at the United Nations (UN) general assembly and tweeted that whole Pakistan is proud of him. Maryam Nawaz wrote on Twitter that nobody could have fought Pakistan, Kashmir s case like PM Nawaz and world parliament echoed with Shaheed Burhan Wani s name.
