Pakistan Muslim League-N leader, Maryam Nawaz Saturday said that there was a strong relationship between country’s progress and former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
Addressing a traders convention here, she said, ‘Whenever Nawaz Sharif comes to power; he gets a country afflicted with a lot of challenges. And when the country starts making progress and attaining stability, his government is sent packing.’
She said that in 2013, Pakistan was facing severe electricity loadshedding crisis and business activities were suffering in the country.
When Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was ousted the country was making progress, motorways were being constructed, China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was under way, electricity load shedding crisis was being overcome, terrorism was being eliminated, stock market was improving and the world was lauding country’s economic progress, she added.
Maryam Nawaz while commenting on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) yesterday’s public gathering in Lahore said that people had rejected those who do politics of conspiracies.
She said that the country was changing ‘and now the politics of sit-ins, Panama, Iqama and conspiracies will not succeed’.
While seeking supporters’ promise to get their mandate respected, she said, they would have to support the PML-N for better tomorrow and a prosperous Pakistan. She asked the jubilant supporters to stand up for rule of law and the mandate they had given to Nawaz Sharif. “Will you stand with Nawaz Sharif for the betterment of the country,” the PML-N leader questioned.
She said everyone knew who became stooges and conspired against a peoples’ elected government. These stooges, she said, sometimes hid behind the judiciary or the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Maryam said it was the first such case in which the punishment was given before filing of the reference.
“My father (Nawaz Sharif) was disqualified for not taking a salary from his son’s company,” she remarked. She told the emotionally charged gathering that Nawaz Sharif would be among them soon.
Later, Maryam Nawaz also visited Royal Park, Nisbat Road, Gowalmandi and addressed the workers. A large number of workers, on the occasion, displayed heavy fireworks and danced at the tune of DJ beats.—APP
