PCB to open academy in Karachi after Hanif Muhammad’s name


Islamabad—Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shahryar Khan on Wednesday said a cricket academy will be opened in Karachi on the name of late Hanif Muhammad.
He said this in the Senate Standing Committee on Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) held here at the Parliament House chaired by Senator Mushahid Ullah.
“Academies will also be opened in Abbottabad, Balochistan and Peshawar,” he said adding a mini cricket academy will also be opened in Hyderabad.
He said the chief minister of Balochistan has assured to give place to establish a cricket ground in Gawadar. Speaking about the men’s and women cricket teams, he said no player of the Test team has done graduation besides skipper Misbah ul Haq.
“The fitness and fielding of our women’s team is not capable in being the top ten,” he said.
He said Basit Ali has been appointed as the women’s team coach as to improve the team’s performance.
“There is no talent coming up in the women’s cricket and the players currently playing in the team are in the team from right years,” he said.
He said the cricket grounds are being used for weddings, political processions and other things.—APP
