PAS officers attend training programme

Lahore—A 34 member delegation of Pakistan Administrative Service’s (PAS) probationary officers participating in 39th specialized training programme of National School of Public Policy Lahore Monday visited civil Secretariat Lahore.
Directing Staff Dr. Muhammad Afzal headed the delegation which was given detailed briefings regarding progress in attaining sustainable development goals in the province of Punjab along with the improvement of social sector facilities in Punjab. Additional Chief Secretary Punjab Shamail Ahmad Khawaja while addressing the probationary officers termed the new institutional framework adopted in Punjab by the visionary Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif a key factor in unprecedented progress and prosperity of the province.
The Chief Minister exhibiting his strong political will, has succeeded to put the province of Punjab on the road of sustainable progress by fully exploiting new institutional framework including establishment of different companies, authorities, trusts and partnerships with the transparent completion of mega projects certified through third party evaluation system.
This mode of action has helped save more than Rs. 85 billion to the exchequer, he added. The Additional Chief Secretary disclosed that the Punjab government has shifted its focus to the development of social sector. Saaf Pani Mega Project is the most prominent project in this regard. Rs. 27 billion have been allocated for the installation of Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration Plants during the current fiscal year while 1500 R.O. Plants will be installed throughout the province till 2018 with the result that each and every citizen of the Punjab will be provided with the Saaf Pani (filtered water) free of cost after only two years.
On a question regarding implementation of National Action Plan in Punjab, Shamail Ahmad Khawaja replied that the Punjab government has succeeded in establishing strong bond of cooperation and integration between Punjab police and all the intelligence agencies at district level in the province which has yielded in phenomenal success in curbing the terrorists during the comparatively result oriented low profile combing operations and intelligence based operations being conducted in the province.
