Pak Judokas for Grand Slam to be finalized tomorrow


Islamabad—Pakistan Judo team for participation in the Grand Slam scheduled to be held in Tokyo, Japan from December 2 to 5 will be finalized on Thursday.
Talking to APP, Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) vice president Masood Ahmed said the final players for the mega event will be finalized from judokas including Shah Hussain Shah, Wajahat Sarwar, Karamat Butt, Imtiaz Khan, Qaiser Khan, Nadeem Akram, Javed Khan and Ifthikar.
“A total of four to five judokas will be finalized for the mega event depending on how many of them get the visas,” he said.
He said we have finalized two officials to accompany the team. “The two officials include Col Junaid Alam and Zareef Ahmed but it depends whether they both get the visa or not,” he said.
He said the camp for the mega event is underway here at the Pakistan Sports Complex. “The players are being trained by coaches Jamil Khokar and Zafar Iqbal,” he said. He said the team will likely depart on November 30 to participate in the grand slam.—APP
