Pak hockey captain Irfan unable to join team for Malaysia


Lahore—Pakistan’s hockey team Captain Muhammad Irfan Senior was not able to join the national hockey team in Malaysia as he could not get his passport back from a foreign embassy in time. “Irfan the captain designate of Pakistan hockey team for the 4th Asian Champions Trophy, beginning in the Malaysian city of Kuantan from tomorrow was unable to join the national team which has already reached Kuantan and would play its first match on October 20,” said a spokesman of Pakistan Hockey Federation here. Faisal Qadir is going to Malaysia as his replacement. Fareed Ahmed would now captain of Pakistan team with Haseem Khan as his vice-captain, he added “Pakistan Hockey Federationwas unaware of the fact that Irfan had submitted his passport to some foreign embassy. Necessary disciplinary action will be initiated against him,” he added.—APP
