Ombudsman rapid complaint resolution mechanism

Islamabad—Federal Ombudsman, Mr. Salma Faruqui on Thursday here launched a new mechanism to ensure early redressal of people’s complaints against
federal ministries as well as departments and organisations working under them.
Under the initiative focal persons have been designated in federal government offices and other agencies who will receive complaints from the people and facilitate their redressal within a period of 15 days. After that the complaint would automatically be transferred to the office of federal ombudsman which would resolve it within 25 days.
Launching the complaint resolution mechanism, the Federal Ombudsman said, it is incumbent on state functionaries to serve the people and redress the complaints. He said during past two years backlog of complaints running in tens of thousands was cleared by his office and now all complaints are disposed off within 45 days. The outreach of the federal ombudsman office has been expanded to district level. New regional offices are being setup. Steeps have been taken to uphold rights of vulnerable segments of the society especially children, women and minorities.
Senior advisor to the Federal Ombudsman, Hafiz Ahsaan Ahmad Khokhar presidented a review of achievements of the organisation.
Secretary Law Commission of Pakistan, Mr. Sarwar Khan and Chairman Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, Justice (Retd) Mr. Ali Nawaz Chohan also addressed the function. Focal persons of Federal Ministries and other government organisations participated in the function. Certifies were disturbed among them.
