Ilyas named as chairman of Jr selection committee
Lahore—Former test cricketer, Muhammad Ilyas on Friday was named
chairman of national junior selection committee which comprises
another five members.
The three members of the committee are former test cricketers while
rest are former first class players, said a spokesman of PCB here.
Basit Ali (Karachi) and Furrukh Zaman (NWFP) are the two other former
test players while Ali Ahmad (Lahore),Asif Baloch (Balochistan) and
Afzal Gujjar (Sindh) are the former first class players. It is the
first time that former first class cricketers have been named
selectors because we firmly believe they have ample experience of
playing cricket at domestic level and can be good selectors to
identify talent at grass root level”, he said.
He said the jr selection committee will be responsible for selecting
U19,17,15 and academy teams.—APP
