NAB takes up cases of own choice, SC observes

Islamabad—The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday has observed that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) make arrests on the basis of favouritism.
SC expressed discontent over NAB’s performance in private banks loan fraud case. The three member SC bench heard the suspect Mehmood Ahmed Zubairy’s bail plea.
Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed sternly remarked that NAB takes up cases of own choice and do not take action in pivotal cases.
The judge said that NAB had only arrested one suspect in the case while others are roaming free. He said that the wanted criminal in the case visits the NAB office and returns but no one is there to question him.
The defense lawyer argued that his client is in custody from the past 44 months however the borrowers Ikhtiar Hussain and Nasir Aziz have not been arrested yet. He also requested the judge to accept the bail of his client Mahmood Ahmed Zubairi which was granted by the judge over surety bonds worth Rs1 crore.—SABAH
