Islamabad—Two-day International conference on new trends in chemistry concluded here after adopting a number of recommendations for promoting the discipline in manner it helps to solve environmental and other social problems. The conference, organized by Allama Iqbal Open University was attended by researchers and academicians from home and abroad, who called for strengthening collaborative partnership among the local and intentional institutions to share new trends and initiatives in the field of chemistry.
The countries which were represented at conference included USA, China, Malaysia, Germany and Poland. It was inaugurated by chairman HEC Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, who praised high the AIOUs recent initiative, laying greater emphasis on construction of knowledge and its dissemination among the end users, through research journals and conferences.
He said, the research work being done in the country was well- recognized internationally. The young researchers have proved their worth in producing research papers of international standard.
The HEC, he said was doing its best in providing an enabling environment to the researchers to address contemporary challenges in their relevant fields. He asserted that the research work must have positive impact on the society and it should be relief-oriented for the people.
The AIOUs Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui said that research-based collaborative partnership with relevant national and international was being promoted to take benefit of the contemporary developments in the field of science and technology.
The researchers were being facilitated through all possible means, like financial support as well as by providing them necessary research data through highly equipped digital libraries network. He hoped that the researchers will fulfill their responsibly towards society, and come out with practical steps to address the future challenges in the socio-economic field. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui thanked the HEC for its all-time support in making the AIOU a model educational institution in public sector meeting the educational needs of the people in all nook and corner of the country.
Earlier, Dean science and chairman department chemistry Dr. Naghmana Rashid highlighted the objectives of the conference, stating that it provided an opportunity to participants to showcase their research.
