Model graveyards

It is a bitter fact that people for quite some time have been facing problems not only in Lahore but also all over the province regarding burial of their kith and kin due to over-crowding of the existing graveyards and non-availability of facilities at one place for laying their loved ones to eternal rest. In order to resolve this problem of the people on somewhat permanent basis , the provincial government on the direction of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has established the Punjab Shehr-e-Khamoshan Authority for developing and establishing model graveyards over the nearest available land. In the model graveyards where all facilities for burial like ghusal, coffin, ablution rooms, cold storage facilities for the dead bodies, waiting area etc will easily be available at one place under one roof.
Pakistan’s pioneering state of the art Shehr-i-Khamoshan (city of silence) model graveyard has been developed and established in Kahna Nau area of Lahore .Model graveyards are also under construction already in Multan, Faisalabad and Sargodha at divisional headquarters. According to the reports in the newspapers, meeting of the Shehr-e-Khamoshan Authority held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister it has been quite commendably decided to extend the scope of this novel initiative programme of developing new graveyards.
Now following the expansion of the scope with the approval of the chief minister, model graveyards will also be established on the pattern of the Shehr-e-Khamoshan already established in Lahore in every district of the province in addition to the nine divisional headquarters. Strategic Reforms Unit, which works directly under supervision of the chief minister, deserves appreciation for coming up with this novel innovative idea which will greatly resolve the people of the people regarding burial of their kith and kin as not only they will be readily getting the space for a grave but also al related facilities under one roof timely and without having to run here and there.
