YOU may like or dislike, agree or disagree with CNN’s point of view and the way it looks at the issues but this in the world of information and analysis, this media house enjoys a lot of credibility. On July 25th this year, CNN published a report on miserable condition of Dalits in India. The report said, “The country’s 2011 census, the latest available, states that just over 16 percent of India’s population are Dalits — making up roughly 200 million people.
According to India’s National Crime Records Bureau, more than four Dalit women are raped every day in India. The NRCB’s 2014 statistics say crime against Dalits rose 19%. In many of the cases, these crimes are committed by upper caste perpetrators.” Same fears and apprehensions regarding the sorry plight of the Dalits in India were expressed in a report issued by the Amnesty International on May 6, 2016. The report said, “On the evening of April 28, a Dalit law student was found dead in her home by her mother, who works as a daily wage labourer. Media reports state that the autopsy found 38 wounds on the woman’s body and signs of rape and her intestines had been partially removed. The police subsequently registered a First Information Report (FIR) but have not yet provided a copy of the FIR to the victim’s family despite being required to do so under Indian law.”
But it is not only the Dalit community facing all this rage and anger of the Hindu extremists, this rage and anger is the fate of all minorities living in India. Be it the Muslims, the Christians or the low-caste Hindus, every minority is facing the same derogatory and insulting situation in the Indian society. However at some places Dalits seem in a better position and at some places the Muslims seem superior to them but they both are far inferior when compared with the upper-caste Hindus on the whole the Muslims are the worst victims to hatred based Hindu extremism.
The name of MP Yogi Adityanath has become a symbol of fear and terror for every Muslim woman in India. This Hindu extremist leader and his men preach the rape of dead Muslim women by pulling them out of their graves. It was the result of his ‘Bashan’ that in October 2015; some Hindu youths dug out the body of a 26-year-old pregnant Muslim woman from her grave raped the corpse. She had died of complications after suffering a miscarriage two days before incident took place. In short situation is very horrible in India regarding maltreatment with the minorities. But more painful is the thing that in spite of such insulting and agonizing behaviour with Muslims, some of Muslim countries desire very cordial relations with India.
The Times of India reported a clash between the Shiv Sena activists and Muslims on July 22, 2016. According to the details Shiv Sena activists gathered outside a mosque in Phagwara where the Muslims had gathered for their weekly prayers. Shiv Sena activists were raising hateful slogans against the Muslims.
In short on one hand this situation is very painful for the Muslims but on the other hand very much astonishing that the Sikhs and the Dalits are joining hands with the Muslims against the atrocities of Hindu extremists in the Indian Occupied Kashmir. This collaboration is simply the collaboration of the crushed ones against injustice and cruelty. It is a very old human tradition that all crushed ones join hand together at the time of adversity and misfortune and become an unshakable wall in front of every tyrant. Days are not far away when within the Indian society, the same crushed ones shall join hands together against Hindu extremism too. And you would find a large number of moderate Hindus also standing in that queue of the crushed ones.
