Mehab guides Blue Stars to win 8th Right to Play Soccer trophy

Peshawar—Substitute Mehab guided Blue Stars to victory against strong Mardan Club in the final of the 8th Right to Play District Mardan Inter-Club Football Championship played Younis Stadium on Saturday.
Member Provincial Assembly Iftikhar Mashwani was the chief guest on final. Chairman District Football Association Mardan and Member District Council Ali Gohar, international footballer Muhammad Zahir, officials of the Right to Play Mardan and large number of football spectators were also present and witnessed the thrilling final.
Before the start of the final match between two strong teams Blue Stars and Mardan Club players were introduced to the chief guest. The final match produced great thrill for the sitting spectators who responded well on the good show of the players with their cheering hands.
There was a good footballing atmosphere as the players of Blue Stars and defending champion Mardan club made furious attack with some beautiful flair distribution of passes from both sides were also witnessed.
However, the things went to otherwise when it comes to the goal-scoring opportunities as both the teams missed some easy goal-scoring chances, leaving the first-half play to goal-less draw.
Mardan, the winner of the 7th edition of the Right to Play District Mardan Inter-Club Tournament, failed to click despite hard efforts. Their forwards did not find room for maneuvering and thus failed to score any goal in the long 45-minute first session.
Blue Stars forwards were also made some good rallies of attacks but they missed easy goal-scoring chances and thus none of the team could be able to score any goal.
It was the second session in which Blue Stars changed their strategy and instead of playing with four forwards and four mid-fielders, included substitute Mehab Khan in the front strikers. The offensive strategy worked and thus Mehab Khan succeeded in scoring a beautiful goal from the top of the box area.
Mehab Khan got a ball from the mid-fielder Fahim and quickly zoomed into the danger zone by travelling past three defenders before slamming in a beautiful goal to make the tally 1-0.
Mardan club tried their hard to level the tally and put in some pressure in the dying moments of the final but failed and thus Blue Stars won the final by 1-0. Khair Ul Amin supervised the match while Arsalan and Abbas acted as deputy referees while Fida Muhammad was the final match commissioner.
At the end, the chief guest gave way trophies and cash prizes. He also announced to sponsor two football events one in Mardan and other in historical Thakhtbhai. He also lauded the efforts being put in by the organizing committee and office-bearers of DFA Mardan for involving the youth in healthy activities.
Chairman DFA Mardan Ali Gohar and Hammad Naqi of Right to Play awarded a memento of the Right to Play to the chief guest.—APP
